The RHInterchange site has been fully integrated with the AccessRH web portal. Please use the new site to access an updated version of the RHI, and bookmark www.myaccessrh.org/rhi-home as your new address for the RHInterchange.

The new RHI site continues to provide users with information on over 2 billion USD worth of donor-funded contraceptive orders for over 140 countries – in English, French and Spanish. The old website will no longer be available after April 15, 2013.

More information and a new report type added

As a response to requests from RHI users, we have added a new report type, which enables you to extract the full content of the RHInterchange database in Excel format.

To learn more, visit the improved About the RHI Data section. The Help section has also been updated to reflect the changes. If you have questions about the RHI data or how to use it, please have a look on these pages. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please write to us at rhi-supply@unfpa.org.

Registered RHI users will be able to log into the new RHI using their existing username and password. New users can gain access to all RHI reports by registering on the AccessRH website.

	Special note to UNFPA users

Existing RHI users who registered using a UNFPA email address will be able to log into the new RHI using their MyUNFPA username and password.

Unregistered UNFPA users will have to register using their UNFPA email address. Once they register and once their registration request is approved they will be able to log in using their MyUNFPA username.

Why has the site been integrated with AccessRH?

AccessRH is UNFPA’s procurement and information service to governments and NGOs working with reproductive health (RH) in low and middle income countries. The AccessRH mission is to expand access to quality, affordable RH commodities, improve the delivery performance for select RH commodities, and enhance access to information relevant for planning and managing RH supplies procurement.

The RHI has been hosted by UNFPA since 2010, and it is an important component of the information services that AccessRH offers. Visit the AccessRH site to learn more.

Kit 2 is comprised of supplementary medical supplies to provide 20 fistula repairs and post-operative care. It includes materials that a fistula surgeon needs, yet which may not be readily available in all contexts.

Launched in February 2011, AccessRH has now been providing enhanced procurement and information services to NGOs and Ministries of Health in low and middle income countries for over one year.

Key AccessRH accomplishments during the past year include:

 High level of customer satisfaction

Reducing wait times for condoms from stock by 10 weeks

Publishing UNFPA procurement information online, including products, prices and processes

Transferring the RHInterchange database to UNFPA and incorporating it with AccessRH

Providing enhanced order information to clients

	High level of customer satisfaction

We consistently ask our clients about their procurement experience and needs, and use the feedback in improving the quality of our services.

The vast majority of our clients are satisfied with AccessRH services:

93% of respondents said they were satisfied with the service level and communication they received regarding their order.

100% of respondents reported satisfaction on price.

In addition, 93% of respondents reported no problems with quality.

Wait times for condom orders shortened by 10 weeks

In 2011, AccessRH processed 122 new procurement orders for clients in 54 different countries.

By maintaining condom stocks at manufacturers’ premises, AccessRH was able to save ministry of health and NGO partners an average of 10.4 weeks in lead time. In 2011, we delivered 74 condom shipments from inventory – approximately 168 million standard male condoms.

By streamlining UNFPA’s financial and legal processes, AccessRH has greatly reduced client administrative time as well - by several months in some cases.

UNFPA product and pricing information available online

UNFPA’s procurement catalog and prices were made available online for the first time, when the AccessRH web portal was launched in October 2011. During the first two months of website activity the site had 275 unique visitors from 51 different countries.

	Incorporating RHInterchange

The RHInterchange database is now managed by UNFPA and is part of the AccessRH website.

The RHI currently has 632 registered users in 92 countries. Most of the registered users (63%) are based in developing countries.

During 2011 there was a 165% increase over the previous period in downloads from the site. 3,300 reports, brochures, or graphs were downloaded.

Providing enhanced order information to clients

In response to feedback from clients, UNFPA sent out a first set of proactive external client order updates at the end of January 2012, with plans for this to be a monthly activity.

Based on its first year results, AccessRH was selected as one of the top 25 inspiring innovations and/or technologies that that have helped to improve the condition of girls and women around the world by Women Deliver.

UNFPA has launched a new web portal – www.myAccessRH.org – that equips countries with tools to improve reproductive health supply systems.

About 215 million women who want to avoid pregnancy are not using an effective method of contraception. A major roadblock to the unmet need for family planning is the shortage of contraceptive supply in low- and middle-income countries, often due to inadequate information.

The new website, www.myAccessRH.org, will help countries meet their reproductive health objectives and improve staff and financial resources. It is the first tool of its kind to enable ministries of health, organizations, technical assistance providers, advocacy groups, and donors to access critical information to make decisions on contraceptive orders and monitor current shipments.

“Our hope is that governments and NGOs seeking to procure reproductive health supplies can access the information they need for planning and budgeting purposes, whether they intend to conduct procurement on their own or via UNFPA,” said Eric Dupont, UNFPA’s Procurement Services Branch Chief.

Visitors to the web portal can access current and historical data on over USD 1.6 billion of contraceptive orders for more than 140 countries from funding sources as diverse as International Planned Parenthood, UNFPA, and USAID.

The website also makes the UNFPA catalog and price list publicly available online for the first time so that countries can evaluate price information for their procurement planning. UNFPA product lead times, quality assurance policies, and manufacturer contact information are also featured.

The website has received financial and technical support from the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), USAID, and the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition.

“Investing in family planning and maternal health will result in fewer unintended pregnancies, fewer maternal and newborn deaths, healthier mothers and children, and a reduction in HIV transmissions,” Mr. Dupont said.
